Fernando Alonso despite being 41 is still fighting for his 3rd Championship. This is what F1 drivers are like. They always want and push for more in every aspect of their life. Whether it is the car or themselves, they are never satisfied with what they have got. The same applies to Esteban Ocon who has set a sky-high expectation for Alpine and is urging them to push forward despite a positive result in Miami. What exactly are Ocon’s expectations?

Alpine finally managed to score points at the Miami GP after getting both their cars in the Top 10 after having two pointless races. The French team had a Terrible Australian GP where the two Alpines crashed into each other at the restart and a subpar Azerbaijan GP where the French team brought major upgrades to the car yet finished P14 and P15. Nevertheless, the pace looked good in Miami where Alpine looked like the best of rest.

However, Esteban didn’t really seem excited about the positive result in Miami. The Frenchman finished P9 and would have finished higher if put on a different strategy. The Frenchman suggests that getting back in the points feels good but not great. He explained how after two horrible races this is a place where the pace of A523 belongs but the team needs to keep pushing as he expects a lot more.

According to the Tweet uploaded on Twitter, when Esteban Ocon was asked about the positive result in Miami and how he feels about it, he said “Yeah, it feels good, doesn’t feel great. We are not winning yet, we are not top 5, and we are not on the podium so it doesn’t feel like where we should be. We need to keep pushing. Obviously, it’s been to come back where we belong but there’s a lot more to come hopefully”

After finishing P4 in the constructor’s last season, the team needs to be winning, finishing on the podium, and Top 5 at least. The Alpine CEO shakes hands with Esteban Ocon on this opinion as he suggests that Alpine should be aiming at a minimum of P4 in the constructor’s championship

Laurent Rossi on driver doing their job and fighting for P4 in constructors

Alpine finished P4 in constructors last season and was aiming to do what Aston Martin is doing this season i.e. challenge the top runners. However, the reality is far from expectations. Rossi suggests that the team should at least aim to replicate last year’s result and finish P4. He also explained that the drivers are doing their job and that there is no slack from their side. The team needs to provide the drivers with a better car so that they can bring big points home.

According to Formula1.com Laurent Rossi said “Especially when the stakes are so high, you managed to get a nice result (P4 last year), you should be motivated to keep it, you should be fighting for nothing less but fourth – and you should therefore avoid every kind of mistake.”

Talking about his drivers, he said, “They are doing their share of the job, we owe to them and Alpine a higher level of performance,”
