Lewis Hamilton’s in Baku was full of struggles with the proposing and getting stuck in traffic. In the closing stages, it was Pierre Gasly that made Hamilton’s race a tad bit harder. Pierre was trying to hang on to what could have been a fourth-place finish; but ultimately on lap forty-four, the Briton caught the Frenchman and passed him down the inside.

Mercedes admin pokes fun as Lewis overtakes Gasly

Pierre Gasly is known across social media for liking every post. And it didn’t take long for the Mercedes social media to a dig at Gasly. Tweeting “Did Pierre Gasly like that? Maybe not this time”, they tried to small dig at the situation. The seven-time world champion was trying to catch the AlphaTauri at the end. But as the battle raged on, the grip on Pierre’s tires went off and that gave Lewis Hamilton all the impetus he needed to make the move going into turn three.

“Lewis boxed and then his pace was shocking,” said Pierre on Lewis Hamilton’s pace. “ I could see him growing every single lap on my mirrors, I tried to defend the best way I could but there was no way to keep him behind.”

While Lewis struggled throughout the weekend and was out-qualified by teammate George Russell; Hamilton was battling back pains. Complaining through the race and getting through with it, Hamilton managed to recover and finish in the top four.

Describing it as one of the painful races and a tough battle with the car, the Mercedes driver was glad that the race was over. He concluded that he is happy with the progress and believes if the team can stop the bouncing, Mercedes can be battling it out with the likes of Red Bull and Ferrari.

One of the biggest talking points of the race was Lewis’s issues with the bouncing. And Hamilton had pointed it out during the practice sessions as the car had massive porpoising and bottoming issues in Baku’s street circuit. It primarily affected his vision at the end of the straight and brakes at an appropriate distance.

“Honestly, we had so much bottoming at the end of the straight yesterday that I couldn’t finish my long run, my back was a real mess,” Lewis mentioned. “Thank God for Angela [Cullen]. I’ve got Angela to give me physio every night, and acupuncture. I woke up with quite a bit of pain this morning.”

Struggling in 2022, Lewis has been trying everything he can in order to perform better. Reminiscing about Barcelona, the Briton explained that the team was working hard in order to be competitive.
