Another race and another howler in the strategy department for the Ferrari F1 team. It was looking so good for a second 1-2 of the season for the Italian team at the British Grand Prix. In the end, they could only manage P1 and P4 at the end of the race. So it was no surprise to see the Monegasque driver a bit disappointed with the team’s strategy once again. But he was given a talking to in the park ferme by the team principal Mattia Binotto.

Binotto even waved a finger at his main driver at the end. In his post-race interview, Binotto revealed what he told Leclerc.

“I think he is certainly disappointed as he was leading the race, a few laps to the end. And then the safety car came out. So disappointed and frustrated, but I think I told him he made an amazing race today.

He was fighting at the start and fighting after to protect the position. So he should not be too disappointed because he did a fantastic race. I think he has been unlucky once again. So things will come for him as well, I’m pretty sure,” said the Ferrari team principal.

In his post-race interview, Leclerc gave a very measured answer. He mentioned that he needs a debrief to go over the whole race before framing an opinion about the strategy.

“I only have the picture of my race. Sometimes, in the car, you don’t have the full picture. On my side, I felt I lost too much time, in the first stint especially. But this is only view and it might change once I see the full picture,” said the Ferrari driver.

It is difficult to know if this is his real answer or the answer he was told to give by the team. But it seems to be getting really frustrating for Leclerc with all the strategy blunders from the team.
