Lando Norris enjoys being a little cheeky time and again. The Briton enjoys a little humor, not even sparing his friend George Russell, who sits on pole for the Hungarian Grand Prix. Russell’s pole practically came out of nowhere, shocking and surprising everyone, as he pipped even the faster Ferrari cars of Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc.

Up until Q1 and Q2, the Mercedes man and Norris both performed well. The McLaren driver was also looking like a sharp contender to take the pole but simply lost out on pace advantage. Of course, it was Russell’s day and Norris simply couldn’t have congratulated his colleague without a bit of humor.

He said, “It’s a very good day for us. A little bit disappointed – George takes a bit of my glory away! “ The McLaren driver also took another fun jibe at his compatriot and said, “Congrats to him on pole position, his first one… now matching me…at last.”

The two British drivers stand at 1-1 for pole positions, with no Grand Prix victory for either of them. That could change on Sunday.

Russell arguably is in the best situation to conquer the Hungaroring. His W13 has suddenly found the pace that suits the track well, and notably, it’s one of the easier tracks to defend on. If we’re to go by Russell’s previous gallantry, the 24-year-old is not going to let someone breeze past him just like that.

Norris, on the other hand, is also in a suitable spot to make it to podium places. Though realistically, the MCL-36 might not match some of the cars as they make their move to gain places. Nevertheless, Norris will surely put on a show for the papaya army.

Lando Norris takes a sly dig at Bottas

Last year’s Hungarian GP was a mess on just Lap 1! Remember Valtteri Bottas shunting Norris who as a result shunted Max Verstappen? Well, it was the perfect example of a chain reaction! With the front row sitters off the track picking up major damage, it was Esteban Ocon who became the winner.

When asked about any disadvantages this year, the 22-year-old quickly remembered what happened last time. He replied, “The disadvantage? Umm, I mean Bottas isn’t too far behind me. “
