Ever since he made his F1 debut in 2015, Max Verstappen has finished on the podium multiple times and has also picked up numerous race wins. But the breakthrough season was in 2021 when the Dutchman engaged in a battle with Lewis Hamilton and won the championship with the finest margin. Next came the 2022 season, where the Dominant Max Verstappen was at the height of his powers. But despite an unimaginable year for him, the Red Bull star received a wake-up call before beginning his ninth season.

The Dutchman displayed blistering pace consistency throughout the course of 22 races in the season. He won 15 races, shattering the previous mark of 13 held by German greats Sebastian Vettel and Michael Schumacher. Even though the Dutchman may have won the season due to his fervor and enthusiasm, head Engineer Paul Monaghan believes there is still room for improvement.

Talking to Formula 1.com, Monaghan said, “If you look at his record over the past seasons he’s been with us, it’s stunning. He wouldn’t achieve that if he wasn’t an exceptional driver. And can he improve? Yes, of course, he can. He might not thank me for saying that.”

Although the race engineer is of the opinion that the Dutch lion will continue to rule if the team provides him with a suitable car. He added, “I think there are areas he can get a little bit better. He’ll dig into himself and think what could he do better for a season, and it’s up to us to give him a car to go and demonstrate those skills.”

Although the season went nearly flawlessly, for the most part, Verstappen still made a few errors that could have cost the team the championship if any of the top teams had been at their strongest this year.

A Former F1 driver was stunned by a rare season error by Max Verstappen

Timo Glock expressed his bewilderment at Red Bull Racing making a mistake in Singapore earlier this year. Red Bull made a mistake on Saturday by choosing the Dutchman’s fuel before the Singapore Grand Prix. Verstappen was compelled to end his final qualifying lap as a result, and he lined up eighth for the start of the race.

The following Sunday’s race was therefore off to a poor start for Verstappen due to the incorrect engine position. With his failed attempt to pass Lando Norris later in the race, Max made a mistake once more.

Glock said in his column for Sky Germany, “Max Verstappen made an unusually large number of mistakes because you’re used to Red Bull and he not making any other mistakes either. With his mistakes, Verstappen has certainly not yet thought about a possible title win because he knew that he would have a hard time winning the title from eighth place on the grid.”

“He didn’t have the title in mind in Singapore either, he just wanted to win or at least make the most of his opportunities. That’s why he attacked Lando Norris like that.”

The season may have showcased the Dutchman’s brilliance, but we must remember that both of Red Bull’s rival teams, Mercedes and Ferrari, had a number of problems that made it easier for Verstappen to win.

However, the teams will undoubtedly learn from their mistakes and return in the upcoming season stronger. In light of all this, do you anticipate Max Verstappen to maintain his supremacy?
