

Records are meant to be broken, and Lewis Hamilton is doing exactly that as he breaks one Michael Schumacher record after another. Now, the Knight is aiming to do the same by gunning for his eighth title.
However, there is one person who thinks that Lewis should not aim to beat Michael’s record. Former F1 boss, Bernie Ecclestone feels that the Mercedes driver should have “stand down” and let Michael’s record be intact.

Ecclestone feels that Lewis Hamilton shouldn’t go after Michael Schumacher’s record
Undoubtedly, Hamilton is one of the greatest drivers in the history of Formula One. Hamilton has already passed the number of races that Schumacher had won. However, Ecclestone feels that the Knight shouldn’t break Michael’s record of titles.

Speaking to RTL.de, the British mogul was asked if Hamilton would be the greatest if he won his eighth championship. He replied, “No, not at all. In fact, I am surprised that Lewis hasn’t said at the beginning of this year, “I am going to stand down, I don’t want to win more races than Michael, or more championships than Michael. I rather Michael keep that honor than me.”

Can Hamilton set a record of titles in Formula One this year?
Last season, Lewis equaled Schumacher’s record by winning seven titles. Now, Hamilton is gunning for his eighth championship. However, the Mercedes driver is amidst an intense battle with Red Bull prodigy, Max Verstappen.

Currently, the gap between the two title contenders is just eight points. With the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix this weekend, Hamilton will push himself to the limit to bridge the gap to the Dutch driver in the driver’s standings.
