Eddie Jordan Delivers His Verdict on Ocon’s Level Compared to Hamilton & Verstappen

Esteban Ocon is regarded as a highly underrated driver. However, at the recent Hungarian Grand Prix before the summer break, the French driver brought home his first-ever F1 victory. Former Team Principal Eddie Jordan talks about how impressed he was with Ocon during his days at Force India.

However, Jordan still feels that Ocon still has a long way to go before he competes against the likes of Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen for world titles.

Many drivers on the grid aspire to be on the same level as Hamilton and Verstappen and to compete for world championships. Even though, Ocon beat the Mercedes driver around the Hungaroring last race weekend, the ex-team boss of Jordan F1 feels that the 24-year-old still has a long journey ahead.

Speaking on an episode of the podcast, F1 Nation with TC, Pinks & Damon, He said, “Personally, when I was involved with Malia, I was a big fan of Ocon, and we saw how professional I think he drove at the last race, cause he did a remarkable, there was a lot of pressure sure. He got help from Alonso on various other things under the circumstances.”

“However, is he on that style? No, I don’t think so, not yet. There is very few that actually can come up to Max and Lewis‘s standards,” he concluded.

Can Ocon repeat a win at Spa?

Ocon entered the summer break on a high, as he won the Hungarian Grand Prix. Hence, he would be motivated to do the same at the upcoming race at Spa for the Belgian Grand Prix.

He is well aware that Hamilton would aim to bounce back and grab a win for Mercedes. But the 24-year-old will aim to keep the 7-time world champion in his rear-view mirrors when the lights go out on Sunday afternoon.
