Jokes aside, Norris will want to bounce back after being on the wrong end of Sainz’s crash in Sochi. He constantly lost places and was never able to make it into the top half after that.

It obviously had a direct impact on the drivers’ standings. Although the McLaren driver is still in fourth, both Daniel Ricciardo and Alex Albon are slowly catching up to him, in terms of their own performances.

Norris enjoys driving at the Nurburgring, has past experience

What adds to the intrigue ahead of this weekend’s race is the very nature of the circuit. The weather, with a tricky mix of chilly breeze and rains, is an important factor. Additionally, there is a balance of low, medium and high speed corners at the Nurburgring.

Norris is quoted as saying, “It’s one that I drove in 2015, 2016 and 2017 in three different categories. I’ve done well and I enjoy a lot.

“It’s very charismatic, it’s got a lot of cool corners. It’s just got a good mixture of everything and I think that’s something that a driver really enjoys.”

Having tested the new nosebox concept, Norris will look to start well in the next practice session. And ahead of an exciting Eifel GP, he will hope to take one step to cement fourth place in the drivers’ standings.
