The Eifel Grand Prix was a shocker to everyone, with unprecedented results and a tense start, Nurburgring witnessed a lot of drama yesterday. The dormant track sprang to life with feisty F1 action, and it has a myriad of stories to tell.

However, the drama wasn’t restricted to the tracks; back at the Haas camp, Guenther Steiner would have been looking at a probable future driver line-up.

Nico Hulkenberg was the best racer on the track for many on the stands. Hulkenberg’s ascent from P20 to P8 was unquestionably admirable; what’s more, his performance was a testament to the fact that he is not ready to be billed as a ‘has-been’ just yet. However, will that be enough to get him back on track?

In the dire hour of need, yesterday’s race may aggravate the dilemma for Haas. They might have stared right into their line-up for next year- Nico Hulkenberg and Sergio Perez. However, will that sustain them? Jolyon Palmer’s answer is a resounding yes.

“I think the Racing Point line up today is such a strong midfield line up. Perez and Hulkenberg both without a drive for next year.

“If you are Haas, sign them both, just sign them both. Take them as a package deal. And you have got one of the strongest midfield driver line up,” replied the former Renault man.

Guenther Steiner is struggling to find a perfect driver pairing for their 2021 campaign; although he has several choices, he faces a challenge to pick the best.

The racers being equally matched makes the job painfully draining for the Haas chief. However, after Hulkenberg’s unexpected drive yesterday, the German may as well be on the list.

“It’s like Berger and Alesi when they used to go everywhere together in the 90s. I think Haas or Alfa Romeo needs just a little bit of fresh impetus. Driver change, probably for the stronger,” expressed Palmer on the Chequered Flag podcast.

Hulkenberg was aware of his state on the grid, he knew he had to fight his way back into it. Riding on years of experience and the spirit of sheer racing, he valiantly fought his way to a points finish.
