The latest episode of Grill the Grid was another enjoyable and funny installment where F1 drivers got their knowledge tested. This time, they were asked which drivers completed the most laps in the 2021 season. While many would assume it would be Max Verstappen or Lewis Hamilton, the answers were a bit surprising.

When the drivers were presented with the names Max Verstappen and Fernando Alonso, many stumbled. While most drivers went for the 2021 world champion, the correct answer turned out to be the 2-time world champion.

Drivers like Daniel Ricciardo, Sebastian Vettel, and Fernando Alonso got it right. Many, including Verstappen, succumbed to the question.

“Me,” said the Alpine driver confidently. “El Plan,” pointed out Ricciardo while picking Alonso.

“What did you do? What did you crash? He had a lot of issues at Alpine but didn’t have many crashes, he did in Bahrain. Higher,” analyzed Albon.

“Fernando. Is there a time limit? Max or Fernando? I think Fernando finished a lot of races last year. I would say, Fernando,” said Vettel. ” He must be lower. No? I thought they retired more,” joked Verstappen.

How did Fernando Alonso finish a lot more laps than Max Verstappen?

The 2-time world champion, like always, was super consistent in his comeback season in 2021. The Red Bull driver had two famous DNFs in Silverstone and Monza, which meant he missed major chunks of those races.

After the season, Alonso gave some of his highlights from the 2021 campaign. “First, Esteban’s win. I know I didn’t win, but it still felt like an amazing moment for the team. Everyone was so happy and I was so proud of everyone at Alpine, so yeah… The win at Hungary.”

“The second has to be my podium in Qatar, I had been waiting a long time for that podium, so that will be my second best moment of the year,” said Alonso. (Translated via Google translate)
