Daniil Kvyat had an amazing finish at P4 at the Imola Grand Prix. Post the race, Helmut Marko was asked about Kvyat’s chances of regaining his seat.

Helmut Marko cleared the air, albeit a bit too harshly. According to Autosport, he laughed and then denied any possibilities of the hypothetical.

Daniil Kvyat put up a stunning performance towards the last leg of the race. There was a safety car brought on by Max Verstappen when his tyres blew out.

Kvyat passed three drivers on the first lap as soon as the race restarted. He even came close to Ricciardo by within a second couple times and fancied his chance at the podium.

Red Bull’s second driver dilemma

It was a day where Red Bull would have wanted to score most points to delay Mercedes’ constructors title. However, both the drivers ended up finishing outside the points table.

Max Verstappen was hustling at P2 when his right rear blew up. Whereas, Alex Albon spun under pressure to Sergio Perez when the race restarted.

It is clear that Red Bull needs to cars pressuring the silver arrows to force them to make a mistake. Unfortunately, Alex Albon has failed to live up to the expectations.

Although Christian Horner has stated that the team is fully committed to Alex Albon. however, Helmut Marko has stated that Albon’s seat is subjected to his performance improvement. There are only four races left for Albon to make a statement.

Helmut Marko has clarified in the past that Pierre Gasly is also not a contender for the 2021 lineup. And now he has cleared the air around Daniil Kvyat as well.

The two real contenders left for Red Bull are Nico Hulkenberg and Sergio Perez. The official announcement on Red Bull’s second driver could still take some time. Meanwhile, Pierre Gasly and Daniil Kvyat are taking the Alpha Tauri to its limit and putting up some impressive performances.
