The new Red Bull prodigy seems likely to repeat the History, albeit at the sister team, as Helmut Marko announces Nyck de Vries with his ultimatum. Nyck de Vries has already been given an ultimatum to improve his performance in the upcoming races. With the Imola GP getting canceled because of the floods, the Dutchman might only have 2 races to prove himself. de Vries’ teammate Yuki Tsunoda has been outperforming the lethargic AlphaTauri whereas Nyck de Vries still seems to be finding his feet with the car and the team. With De Vries only having two races, a stern eye is also being kept on his possible replacement.

When Helmut Marko was asked about de Vries, he suggested that the Dutchman has only been shown a yellow card by the team, which means it’s just a stern warning. If he improves then well and good, if he does not, then things would have to be moved around. Liam Lawson and Ayumu Iwasa were named from Red Bull’s young driver pool as the drivers who could replace de Vries. Daniel Ricciardo was ruled out by the Red Bull taskmaster. 

Liam Lawson, a candidate to replace de Vries, has been going strong in the Super Formula series. The Kiwi just took his second win in the series, which pushed him to the top of the championship. However, his race wins and championship lead is not what impressed us. Lawson managed to keep Miyata and Tsuboi behind him and even managed to eke out a lead after the safety car despite being on older rubber.
