After months of preparation, Max Verstappen appeared for the 24 hours of virtual Le Mans. The Dutchman showing his IRL racing experience took the lead in the race and held on to it for a long time. However, technical glitches and server failures rendered him helpless, and he bowed out of the race. The event announcer did not have kind words for him, though, and that hasn’t gone down well with the fans.

Max’s commitment to sim racing is as severe as his commitment to F1. In an interview before the event, he said that he does not let anyone near his room during a race. That includes his beloved cats and his girlfriend Kelly Piquet’s daughter. As he retired from the race, he went on a rant trashing the organizers and calling it a “clown show”.

Le Mans announcer’s comments on Max Verstappen leave fans furious

After disconnecting multiple times, the reigning F1 champion decided to call it quits. Fans were left as disappointed as Max was given the fact that many tuned in just to watch him race.

The decision to retire did not go down well with the commentator though. He said, The number two Redline machine in the lead. The number one had bailed out of the race despite leading the championship. Verstappen threw a hissy fit and decided to retire.”

Another one pointed to the fact that each team had 4 drivers. The decision to retire must have been a team decision. Therefore, the commentator singling Max out was uncalled for.

Max announcing he will be a part of the race certainly brought the viewership numbers up. The organizers, therefore, should have been more sensitive to the time Verstappen was investing in it, according to a user.
