Times change. Things change. Sometimes for good, sometimes for bad. The same has been the case in Formula 1 for the fans, as the changes in the sporting regulations have been both welcomed and opposed. But a large group of those opposed believe that it’s the spicy and controversial elements of the sport that truly capture the attention of fans worldwide. And to restore that, they have lent backing to a deep-fake video of Tesla CEO Elon Musk planning to buy F1 and restore such elements.

In an AI-generated video, Elon Musk can be seen talking about bringing back the ‘sexy’ times by turning the clock back to the V10s, grid girls, and small chassis. In response to this video shared by the former F1 driver and Le Mans winner Stefan Johansson, many fans backed the superficial proposal. Nostalgic fans claimed that spicy and controversial elements of Formula 1, such as the V10 engines and grid girls, have a special place in their hearts. Many argue that they provide a unique level of excitement and entertainment that is missing from the current norms of the sport.

It was certainly surprising to see the reactions, as people are more nostalgic than ever. Clearly, the four-stroke V6s have failed to impress the fans, so much so that a fan-made video is something that they resonate with the most. Needless to say, a person like Musk, interested in the sport, would be more than willing to roll back the changes.

Lewis Hamilton and fans miss the sound of the V8s and V10s

Lewis Hamilton, who has been an activist for various social and environmental causes, misses the raw sound of the V8s and V10s. In 2015, he was quoted by GPToday as saying, “If we can have clean efficient cars that make lots of noise like the old ones then that would be pretty cool.” It was an era when Formula 1 was at the very height of its powers. Fans expressed their desire for the return of these times as the sound of these engines was nothing short of exhilarating.

Sadly the attention the stupid TV show has gotten means the F1 bore fest can prob continue for another 10 years till the new “fans” realize it’s dumb and turn off..”

Others wished that Elon Musk should take over and improve it. They said, “That would be mega”, “Elon Musk would surely save F1 with those words… Today’s F1 is literally dead – All I can see is F1 being a victim of sportswashing, nothing more.”, “I bloody wish 😑” and “He could do it.”

Surprisingly, some took the video for real and backed the Twitter owner, saying, “He is so right 🤓”, Awesome get it back to Senna days brawn and balls and super high revs 👏😍 and “Yes wouldn’t that be great”
