It was the year 2009 when former Formula One team owner, Ross Brawn, designed one of the most dominant cars of all time, as the rivals watched the vibrant looking Brawn GP pull off mind-boggling results in awe. There were one too many loopholes in the F1 regulations which Brawn duly took advantage of.
In the end, the extremely one-sided affair led many fans to wish that they wouldn’t have to witness such a predictable season in the future.
Hence, F1 had to enforce a lot of rule changes in a bid to level the playing field which led to the rise of Red Bull Racing, one of the least-expected teams to shine. Their reign lasted for four years until the end of 2013. Then arrived the era of V6.

Brawn, the brain behind the 2022 regulation changes, opened up that the teams will no longer be able to exploit loopholes, henceforth, putting an end to the chances of a 2009 Brawn GP incident repeat. However, the Briton also admitted that such repeats would have an extreme effect.
“If it happens again like it did in 2009, it will have an extreme effect,” he told New York Times. “We even deliberately broke the rules in some areas to find out if there were any weaknesses in the regulations.”

Although in 2022, there are chances of a team gaining a massive advantage over other teams, the odds of such a scenario playing out, in reality, is very low. “It’s very difficult now to find loopholes,” Brawn concluded according to GP Blog.
Overall, the arrival of the budget cap has certainly ensured that money no longer plays a prominent role in winning the championship titles. Instead, it is now all about smartness and efficiency! So, who is winning the championship in 2022?
