Amid the rise of global tensions between Russia and Ukraine, motor sports decided to ban Russian athletes from participating. As a result, Haas driver, Nikita Mazepin lost his seat in Formula 1.

“My life has changed radically in just one month,” was Nikita Mazepin’s response after suffering a sack from his team, Haas F1. Though fans sympathize with his situation, it aligned with the world’s needs.

Nikita Mazepin wants to comeback to F1

Nikita Mazepin was a Haas driver until the February of this year. In a dramatic turn of events, he, alongside his father’s company Uralkali, were both dropped from Haas. However, Kevin Magnussen’s sensational return added fuel to the fire as Mazepin’s situation did not receive attention.

Furthermore, Nikita felt his situation is a part of the ‘cancel culture’ against Russian athletes. The 23- year-old said, “My career is now on hiatus,”

“But I have been involved in motorsport for 18 years, and I have no intention of leaving it. I’m keeping fit and I hope to return to Formula 1.”

“If it doesn’t work out, I will consider other options. For example, I’m interested in racing in the desert. The Dakar is possible, as is the Silk Road rally.”

Mazepin’s mental turmoil is understandable. He only made his debut in 2021, and though his time in F1 wasn’t the best, he might’ve improved. However, Haas fans seem more than happy to have K-Mag back. The driver made a ‘Viking comeback’ after claiming a solid P5 in the very first race. Kevin has even managed to qualify for Q2 and Q3 with his Haas.

Schumacher and Magnussen seem like the real deal

Magnussen drove with such remark ability that Sir Lewis Hamilton was left dumbfounded. He, for the first time in years, was challenging McLaren‘s and Mercedes in a Haas! Moreover, Ferrari engines are obviously giving the American team their much-needed boost. However, teammate Mick Schumacher, who was an enormous challenge to Mazepin, hasn’t troubled Kevin much.

Announced as Mick’s actual test, Magnussen was way ahead of Schumacher Jr. earlier. The young driver even faced a brutal crash during Saudi GP and lost out on some solid points. The question is: can Mick match up to Magnussen.?
