Barcelona until has been very bit eventful. From the on-track activities to the off-track action, lots of items to cover. And now it seems like a conversation between McLaren’s Daniel Ricciardo and Mercedes’s George Russell has sparked a meme fest between teams. Mercedes had posted the image on Twitter captioned, “What’s happening here? Wrong answers only.”

In the picture, Ricciardo can be seen whispering to Russell. While it is unclear what the Australian said, their respective teams had ideas of their own.

McLaren took no time to point out the uncanny resemblance of the picture with the popular meme. Uploading the Uncomfortable Nightclub Meme, the Woking team wrote, “Can’t unsee this”.

Mercedes did not miss with their response and wrote back, “And then I had to wear a crop top in the paddock”. This was a reference to the moment when Ricciardo and Norris wore crop tops in a James Corden video last time out in Miami. 

As if that wasn’t enough, fellow Mercedes engine customers and red hair supporters, Williams Racing, also chimed in. While they have been very aggressive in promoting their salon for this weekend, they wondered if Daniel and George wanted to color their hair. The Grove outfit responded, “Yo are you getting your hair dyed at Albonos?”

Twitter users were also amused at the responses from the teams. As one user wrote, “i’m convinced that f1 team twitters are secretly run by one of us at this point”

Mercedes magic pace; Ferrari on top and McLaren making moves

As the countdown starts to the Spanish Grand Prix, there have been some changes. In the Ferrari camp, Charles Leclerc had the bragging rights as he beat his title rival Max Verstappen to pole.

The reigning world champion, Max Verstappen, lost power during his final flying lap and had to settle for P2. Mercedes have confirmed indeed that their pace isn’t gone. Slotting in P4 and P6, it seems like their upgrades are working.

McLaren’s Lando Norris who lost out yesterday’s running due to him running wide could only manage a P11. On a weekend when Daniel Ricciardo will become the most experienced Australian in Formula 1, he qualified P9.
