Amidst rising tensions in the F1 community since the Abu Dhabi GP, a move in FIA Formula E has instigated the talks further. The Mercedes team has repeatedly accused the F1 racing committee of bending the rules to make the final race spectacle worthy rather than fair. The decisions made during the safety car by Masi helped Max Verstappen win his first title while denying Lewis Hamilton his record eighth.
An incident in the Formula E Championship has ignited this debate all over again. In round 2 of this championship, ROKiT Venturi Racing took the headlines with Edoardo Mortara and Lucas di Grassi finishing in first and third place respectively, with Envision Racing’s Robin Frijns splitting the pair in second.

This happened because of a new regulation this season in the E championship. As per that, “If a Full Course Yellow or Safety Car period goes into or takes place during or after the 40th minute of an E-Prix, additional time will not be added to the race.”

Twitter reacts to FIA Formula E events taking a jibe at the F1 racing committee
After these events broke out, a chunk of F1 fans took to social media to express their dismay about the Abu Dhabi events, a rule bender according to them. While many insisted on sending over a rule book to FIA, others found better ways to take a jibe. Meanwhile, two-time Formula E champion Jean-Eric Vergne was furious with how the racing committee handled the round 2 incidents.
Let us take a look at some of these reactions.
As per our new Season 8 regulations, if a Full Course Yellow or Safety Car period goes into or takes place during or after the 40th minute of an E-Prix, additional time will not be added to the race.

Couldn't you improvise it, like they did in Abu Dhabi just go for it

Why ? There’s no laps or time added in F1. Why taking notes on a cutoff moment for that ?

I think Masi was busy 😉

thats bare minimum and thats great! but it was unsafety when the cars were passing, with tractor + car hanging on track, less than a meter from them
