After an easy win for Max Verstappen and a dominant display by Red Bull at the first Chinese GP in 5 years, Formula 1 looks forward to the first race in the United States. The Miami GP will be held from the 3rd of May to the 5th of May at the Miami International Autodrome. This will still be a relatively new race on the calendar compared to most of the other races so far this season. The first edition of the Miami GP was held during the 2022 F1 season, with Max Verstappen being the only winner on the track so far.

The Miami International Autodrome is built around the Hard Rock stadium. The circuit is a temporary one and is considered to be a street circuit. However, no public roads are used for the track, with purpose-built infrastructure and hard rock stadium parking used for most parts of the tracks. Unlike most tracks on the F1 calendar, it wasn’t built and designed by Herman Tilke but by Apex Circuit Design.

The circuit can hold a capacity of about 65,000 fans, with loads of celebrities also showing up on the track. Last year, Tom Cruise and Shakira showed up at the track. It was only after the Miami GP when Lewis Hamilton and Shakira were spotted together, that their dating rumors started. Hopefully, the race will live up to the hype and provide the same action as last year, when Max Verstappen stormed through the grid and won the race.

2024 Miami GP Schedule: 3rd to 5th May

The Miami GP is going to be the 6th round of the 2024 F1 calendar and the first race in the Western Hemisphere. The weekend will begin on the 2nd of May with the media day, where the pre-weekend press conferences will take place. The racing action begins on the 3rd of May, Friday, with the only practice session and the sprint qualifying. The 4th of May, Saturday, brings the all-important Sprint Race and the qualifying session, which will decide the grid for the race. The main race will be held on May 5th, Sunday.

Miami Practice: Friday, May 3rd

Since the Miami GP weekend is going to be a Sprint weekend, teams will only get one practice session to set up the cars and get them ready for the Sprint qualifying as the Parc Ferme condition will be in place. Hence, the importance of this session increases even more as we expect all the teams to send cars out on track more than usual compared to the non-sprint F1 weekends.

As per the new rules, the Parc Ferme will open up after the Sprint Race, and teams can make the changes before going into the regular qualifying.
