In recent years, the Mercedes vs Red Bull rivalry has taken center stage in Formula 1. F1 fans will forever remember the 2021 battle between the two teams and two drivers, Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton. Team principals were also not kind to each other and pushed each other to their limits frequently.
However, their rivalry started a decade back. Of course, if you are two of the successful teams in F1, the battle is the headline among the media and fans. After clinching four titles in a row between 2010 and 2013, the Bulls were beaten by Mercedes in 2014. Subsequently, the Silver Arrows‘ dominance continued throughout those years.

Moreover, Christian Horner and Toto Wolff are not the closest of friends. In fact, last season both the team principals were intense and raised complaints and protests against the other team. A war of words and differences in opinions are a constant theme between the two.

It is certainly good to see the two engineers bonding, especially after an intense race. Fans, of course, noticed this and took to Twitter to express the moment.

These two engineers go back way back from their days in Jordan F1 in the early 2000s. GP worked with Daniil Kvyat in 2015 at Red Bull and subsequently Verstappen later. Meanwhile, Bono worked with Michael Schumacher in his Mercedes days and Hamilton, once he joined the Silver Arrows. Fans were pleased to see the two having a laugh after a tough race.
As this fan says, rivalries among teams do not go beyond the track.

The Spanish GP was not a straightforward race for both Hamilton and Verstappen. The Brit crashed with Magnussen early and wanted to retire the car.

Fans are the ones that get hateful with one another. It’s like that in all sports. The athletes usually have respect for each other.
