Red Bull has still not gotten a hold of itself after the Christian Horner incident, and with an ongoing power struggle in the team, Adrian Newey is seeking an exit. Yes, right! The Chief Technology Officer is expected to leave, and there have been many offers for the RB20 mastermind. However, he has yet to make a decision.

Who wouldn’t love to have an engineer on their team? But now it all comes down to what Newey decides. The two biggest runners are Aston Martin and Ferrari, both of which have a world champion in their cars. However, Lawrence Stroll has been pursuing Adrian Newey to join his team, but with a Ferrari offer on the table, the British engineer is expected to take time to make his decisions. But as per a recent update, we might just know where Newey is more inclined to go.

Sky Sports F1 commentator Craig Slater has recently learned something about the Adrian Newey situation. According to Slater, Aston Martin’s insiders believe that if Newey were to join a team, it would be Ferrari. The Prancing Horses have been trying to sign Newey for over 2 decades but have been unsuccessful so far.

Slater spoke about the benefits that Newey would have if he joined Aston Martin, being based in Silverstone, which will not be a drastic shift for the engineer compared to Maranello for Ferrari. Slater affirmed after his one-on-one interaction with the Aston Martin insiders, ” If he is to go somewhere else, it would be Ferrari, potentially.”

On the other hand, Scuderia Ferrari is coming off as one of the strongest teams in 2025, with Lewis Hamilton joining Charles Leclerc. Add Adrian Newey to that equation, and now we are talking!

Further, despite the one-year gardening period, having Newey out of Red Bull might change their pace in the upcoming season. But Ferrari will definitely get to enjoy the benefits of Newey after the gardening time is over in 2026, with a new engine, a new engineer, and 2 drivers who are hungry to win. On the other hand, Lawrence Stroll, who is working to build Aston Martin into a championship-winning team, gets the bad news.

While Adrian Newey has not yet worked with Lewis Hamilton or Fernando Alonso, the chances for Ferrari are high. If Ferrari seals the deal, Aston Martin will have to look elsewhere to be able to get the most in the upcoming season with 42-year-old Alonso. Now, upon hearing this, the future driver for Ferrari has come forward to share his thoughts.

Although the two have not worked together directly, it was Adrian Newey’s original design in McLaren, which was worked on, that got Lewis Hamilton his first world championship. Back during the 2022 Dutch Grand Prix, Lewis Hamilton stated, “They’ve (Red Bull) got the aero-balance right, great ride quality, no problems with bumps.”

Complimenting the progress Red Bull has made since then, Hamilton also stated, “They’re an amazing team and have done a phenomenal job. Adrian Newey doesn’t generally build bad cars. My first championship car (in 2007) was an evolution of his car.”

That being said, after driving some competitively difficult cars, Hamilton believes that Newey will be able to do justice with the car. Having him on the team will only increase the prospects for Ferrari to win the world championship. Ultimately, what it comes down to is how each team copes with the engine change regulations that come in 2026. Do you think Ferrari will make its comeback with a title in 2025 or 2026? Let us know what you think of Newey in Ferrari in the comments below.
