One of the biggest controversies of this year feat. Lewis Hamilton is finally coming to an end in Formula One! Earlier this week, three-time world champion, Nelson Piquet Sr, unknowingly triggered chaos in the F1 community that managed to spread into other sporting communities as well, including Tennis and European football.
This matter could have gone unnoticed if not for a mysterious fan who managed to dig up an interview from late-2021. During the podcast, Piquet had lashed out at Hamilton for crashing into his daughter, Kelly Piquet’s boyfriend, Max Verstappen during the British GP.
Reasonable enough? Of course, one would acknowledge Piquet’s displeasure, considering his camaraderie with the Dutchman. However, the Brazilian’s choice of words was not as reasonable, which led to a massive uproar amongst the racing fraternity.

Along with the F1 personnel, Tennis star, Naomi Osaka, Manchester United defender Raphael Varane, and several others, too, voiced out in support of Hamilton.
But, unsurprisingly, the protest did not end there, as fans began to demand ‘action’ along with mere words of condemnation. Well, it’s finally happening!

Of course, Piquet portrayed an apologetic statement towards Hamilton and the racing community, hoping to evade bigger consequences. What’s more, he tried to prove that his comments were hardly racial and that the media had played an unpleasant role in provoking the controversy. Unfortunately, despite the attempt to prove his innocence, things aren’t unfolding in his favor.

According to RACER, F1 has decided to ban the former world champion from the paddock. Hence, Piquet is no longer welcome at Grand Prix events from now. Now, the next big question is whether this ban will extend deeper into the Piquet family, considering their recent attempt to prove that ‘n****’ is barely a racial slur in the family.
Well, we’ll know in time.
