German Formula 1 driver Nico Rosberg displayed some extraordinary racing in 2016. Finishing on the podium on 16 occasions out of 21 races, Rosberg was almost clinical in bagging the Drivers’ Championship.
The season belonged to Nico Rosberg right from the start who was driving for the Silver Arrows. With 4 consecutive pole positions in Australia, Bahrain, China, and Russia, he was leagues ahead of everyone.
A retirement at Spain and a 7th and 5th at Monaco and Canada broke his streak. However, Baku saw him finding his way back to winning ways.
Rosberg’s win is not the only memorable moment from the 2016 European Grand Prix. An incident following the race was the point of attraction. Clinching the pole from Sebastian Vettel, Rosberg was right on track.
However, the incident where Rosberg interviews himself is what stood out that weekend. Soon after the race, he was seen walking towards a Dutch TV. He decides to walk away hilariously and then returns.
“Okay let’s go! C’mon! No question, I talk?”
Rosberg was seen baffling the reporter with his presence and sense of humor. Failing to receive a question from the reporter, Rosberg decides to speak on his own.
“Thank you very much; it has been a spectacular weekend! Was it important for me to win today? No! I’m just happy to win the Baku Grand Prix!”
Spontaneous with the basic speech which they often have to deliver, Rosberg gave (or took) a hilarious interview of himself.
“I’m really really happy, but I have run out of questions! But I guess you had your answers.”
Significantly Rosberg had the best season in his career in 2016. Coming 2nd twice in 2014 and 2015, he went all the way to break his records and ultimately clinch the Drivers’ Championship Cup in 2016.
However, the German Professional racer was quick to assess his achievements and decided it was the right time to say goodbye.
Bidding farewell to his career after winning the coveted Championship Cup, Rosberg started off on another adventure, becoming a complete family man.
