This is exactly what happened with McLaren’s MCL60. A livery launch is an exciting prospect for everything involved and invested with a particular team. However, at the McLaren livery launch, the fans were left a bit disappointed with the MCL60’s design.
The team headed by Zak Brown would’ve liked a better, more positive reaction from the fans. However, that was not the case. The fans are judging the book by its cover, which looks more or less like the 2022 version.
McLaren also used a popular figure as a host for the livery launch. However, that did little to nothing to change the fans’ reaction toward the car.
Fans react to the 2023 McLaren challenger and paint a bleak picture
The fans expressed their disappointment with the similar car design from 2022. In fact, the fans pointed out how most cars in 2023 look similar to their 2022 versions. Sadly, it’s a case of a new year but no new designs for most cars on the grid so far after the livery launches.

Would have been better if they put the gulf Monaco colors from 2021 literally would have been more iconic for their 60 year anniversary and way better looking from this crap we have infront of us.

A fan even mocked McLaren’s newest sponsor, Google Chrome, and tweeted, “guys let’s be serious, #chrome can’t run on it without crashing”. Whereas one fan expressed their expectation for the livery and labeled the MCL60 “Crap”.
