Earlier this year, F1’s owner’s i.e. Liberty Media, penned a five-year deal with the Saudi Arabian oil and chemical company, Aramco. The deal saw Aramco become a global partner for F1. But also as a result of the deal, it became the sport’s duty to promote the state-backed fuel brand.

However, the route chosen by the sport to promote Aramco has been rather displeasing. F1 has faced a lot of heat for using Lewis Hamilton’s fame for the promotion of Aramco.

To put it simply, the ideologies of the 6-time World Champion and the energy company don’t quite go hand in hand. Hamilton, for his part, has been very active on social media.

The most recent post, a video about the journey of Hamilton from his rookie days to modern-day legend status, presented by Aramco, has infuriated the fans of the sport. They flooded the comment section voicing their displeasure.

And it doesn’t get any better than Lewis Hamilton when it comes to attracting attention from the fans. Sure, you could argue that Liberty Media could have walked away from a deal with them. But once the deal is signed, both parties have to do their part.

Meanwhile, moving away from this drama to the on-track situation, Hamilton has started this season on a typically sublime note. 132 points from 6 races with 4 wins among them, he’s already looking unstoppable.

Equaling Michael Schumacher’s 7 Championship titles almost seems guaranteed at this point.
