Haas F1 has to bid farewell to their driver Nikita Mazepin just before the start of the 2022 season because of the ongoing tension in the world. However, the American team got Kevin Magnussen as the replacement for the young Mazepin just ahead of the Bahrain pre-season testing.

The Haas F1 team was forced to terminate their association with their Russian sponsor Uralkali and Russian driver Nikita Mazepin. Therefore, there was a vacant driver seat at the Haas base. Eventually, Haas F1 got their former driver Kevin Magnussen on board to fill the vacant spot.

They revealed Magnussen joining their team on Twitter which was followed by a tweet via the Dane on his social media, confirming his comeback to Formula One and has F1.

Can Haas win races in the 2022 season?

Undoubtedly, the American F1 team faced one of the worst results in the 2022 season, finishing at the very bottom with zero points. Haas f1 thought to get young blood on the team; however, the last season didn’t go well according to their plans. Both the rookie drivers failed to bag points.

The Haas F1 entered the 2022 season believing in the same line-up from the last season. However, the ongoing tension between Ukraine and Russia is affecting every sport in the world; F1 also didn’t get away from the claws of this tension. Therefore, the team had to break their connections with Nikita Mazepin.

After the departure of Mazepin, fans speculated Haas to turn around towards the reserve driver Pietro Fittipaldi. But they didn’t want to go for young blood and wanted someone experienced. Therefore, in came Magnussen. The Danish has previously driven for the Americans from 2017 to 2020.

Apart from the new driver line-up, Haas F1 has more chances to bag some points this season because of the latest rules and regulations which give the lower finishing teams to compete against top-tier F1 teams.

Nikita Mazepin took the 2022 challenger VF-22 for the pre-season testing at Barcelona. But the car could only last for nine laps before running into some troubles, which forced Haas to announce their withdrawal from the testing.
