GQ Sports gave Verstappen the title of athlete of the year. The Magazine also has the Red Bull driver on the cover of their 27th annual Men of the Year issue. In a post on their official Twitter handle, GQ Magazine shared, “Presenting our first 2022 #GQMOTY cover star: @Max33Verstappen.”

The announcement came as fans criticized Verstappen after he refused to help his teammate Sergio Perez in his quest to get P2 in the championship by giving up his position in Brazil.
