Fans Pitch Their Clear Favorite While Andretti Teases “Who Is Leading the Pack” as F1 Dream Nears Reality

Despite being the off-season, F1 is buzzing with awesome news right now. The latest delight for fans globally is the FIA’s new Expression of Interest initiative for “New Teams” in F1. And the most vocal aspirant for the same has made their intentions clear about joining the pinnacle of motorsport. After Andretti announced its joint F1 entry bid with Cadillac, fans have already started predicting the new team’s driver line-up.

Fans across the world are surprised and thrilled to see Andretti’s F1 dream nearing reality. While they have got an American car brand like Cadillac onboard, they are also looking at American drivers. So, an all-American team is a possibility looking at the current statements by Andretti stakeholders.

As per Autosport reporter Luke Smith, Andretti plans to have an American driver. Smith tweeted, “I asked Andretti if the plan was still to give Herta an F1 seat: “We definitely have [a] plan to have an American driver. I think you all know who is leading the pack on that one.”

Fans are certainly delighted to see Andretti-Cadillac taking it seriously about being a truly American team on the F1 grid. Meanwhile, there are several drivers that fans are wishing to see driving for Andretti’s team whenever they come to the grid. The most prominent non-American name so far is Daniel Ricciardo. Being a race winner, Ricciardo surely will add a lot of value to the team.

Though, the major push for Andretti’s driver lineup is given to IndyCar driver Colton Herta. Despite not having a super license, Herta has been around the paddock to try and get a seat. Now, fans feel his wish may finally come true.

Motorsport fans all over the world have tried to pitch names for Andretti’s American driver search. Nevertheless, so far, Daniel Ricciardo and Colton Herta have been the clear favorites now as per fans for Andretti’s driver line-up. While Ricciardo is out of a seat; many want to see Herta’s potential unleash in F1.

Ricciardo’s name makes sense from a marketing perspective. Considering how popular Daniel has become in the US, it might actually be a good move. Plus, the Aussie driver has got race-winning experience too.

Although, many want to see Colton Herta getting this Andretti drive. Colton was in the shout for an Alpha Tauri seat for 2023, but it did not work out due to FIA’s super license requirements. Thus, Herta needs to secure that super license as soon as possible if he wishes to be on top of Andretti’s list.

Fans have also suggested some other drivers’ names like Logan Sargeant and Josef Newgarden. Still, this duo of Herta and Ricciardo seems to be the clear fan-favorite lineup for Andretti as of now.

Eventually, Andretti needs to first secure its team entry confirmation. The team will need a lot of financial backing including the new entrant fee to the championship worth $200 million. So, this driver lineup situation is a problem for later, after the American outfit sorts out the F1 entry formalities.
