He was in terrible discomfort, possibly to the point where many thought he’d need assistance to walk. No one knows how he somehow managed to drive with so much pain.

Now Hamilton has given out a message on his Instagram, telling people he’s okay but also warning them. Understandably, many of his fans and the F1 fraternity were concerned about the back pain and the fact that it could put the Montreal race in jeopardy. Whether Lewis will drive there really depends on how badly he has been affected.

The seven-time world champion, after seeing so many well wishes, informed “P4 today. Congrats to George on another great drive and an overall positive result for the team. Seeing online that a lot of people are concerned about me with how awful it looked out there. It means so much that so many of you are sending love.”

“I’ll be honest It’s looks terrible and feels 100 times worse. Definitely some recovering and hard work with the team to do before Montreal to overcome this hurdle. Feeling better already, though, and motivated my to keep pushing. See you next week ~”

While Hamilton has practically announced that he will race in Montreal, earlier comments from Toto Wolff suggested otherwise. Wolff revealed that Hamilton might not be in a physical state to drive in Canada after a tough race. Moreover, even Hamilton described Baku as one of the ‘worst race ever’.

Lewis Hamilton did not give up despite the circumstances

Despite a tough time in the car, Hamilton’s drive was commendable. Fans voted him ‘Driver of the Day’, given he was even out of points to finish at one point but somehow breezed past most of the midfield. Towards the end of the race, Hamilton charged bravely toward a top 5 finish, replacing Gasly in a beautiful overtake.

Further, mid-race the champion did complain about his backache, concerning many, but did not give up. He even revealed later, “Toughest battle with a car I’ve experienced. So, yeah I’m glad it’s over. I can’t express the pain that you experience, particularly on the straight here. In the end, you’re just praying for it to end.”
