Ferrari was ecstatic when Felipe Massa crossed the line to end up first in the race, meaning he became the 2008 champion. However, a young Briton overtook a struggling Timo Glock on worn-out tires in the last corners to score enough points to wipe that smile off the scarlet team’s face. This meant a teary Massa became a 20-second wonder and Lewis Hamilton became a world champion. While the title changed the course of history, a recent nudge by Bernie Ecclestone has led to the first losers to evaluate what happened 15 years ago. And Hamilton fans have in turn issued a threat to Max Verstappen.

The megalomaniac had recently pointed out that for him, Michael Schumacher is the only 7x champion and Massa was robbed of his title. The ex-F1 honcho had even gone on to taint Hamilton’s title by saying he had all the luck. Moreover, a 15-year late realization has not led Massa to believe that what happened to him amounts to an offense like that of robbery or theft.

As quoted by Motorsports, Massa said: “There is a rule that says that when a championship is decided, from the moment the driver receives the champion’s trophy, things can no longer be changed, even if it has been proven a theft.”

He admitted to knowing the rule but not acting on it. He said, “At the time, Ferrari’s lawyers told me about this rule. We went to other lawyers and the answer was that nothing could be done. So I logically believed in this situation.”  “[…] I would never go after it thinking financially. I would go after it thinking about justice. I think if you’ve been punished for something that wasn’t your fault, and it’s the product of a robbery, a stolen race, justice has to be served. In fact, the right situation is to cancel the result of that race. It is the only justice that can be done in a case like this.”

While Felipe Massa has now aimed at taking away Lewis’ first title, the LH44 army has a different plan to make their favorite stay a seven-time champion.

As a result of Felipe Massa’s threat, fans ask for Lewis Hamilton to be awarded the 2021 title

The 2008 title race became one of the most nail-biting ones in the history of sport where a champion was dethroned a few seconds after he became one, Hamilton’s controversial title race string doesn’t end here as Abu Dhabi 2021 may always be a gray area for many onlookers. While Massa threatens a reversal of the 2008 title, the Hamilton fans have joined forces to ask for a review of the 2021 title that saw Max Verstappen become a champion. F1 Twitter went on from claiming that Massa has lost it to seeking revenge on Red Bull.
