People are trapped in history, and history is trapped in them. Bernie Ecclestone’s recent comments blew open Felipe Massa’s chances to challenge the 2008 title. However, Ecclestone’s reputation precedes his name, as his past record of making such comments isn’t very trustworthy. As a result, the Former Ferrari driver’s claim takes a severe hit, and he’s expected to come up with some other proof as well. Can Massa generate more proof? What is this Ecclestone’s past record?
The crashgate incident of 2008 is to date one of the darkest moments in F1. If the incident had not happened, Felipe Massa would’ve been crowned the 2008 world champion. Regardless, rumors of Felipe Massa challenging the title in court have now surfaced, as Bernie Ecclestone has made some revelations. According to Bernie Ecclestone, FIA knew about the crash gate drama before the season ended and had enough proof at that time to start an investigation.

The hosts of The Last Lap podcast suggested that Bernie Ecclestone’s claim of FIA knowing about the crash gate incident before the end of the season might not be valid, as he is known for saying a lot of things, which is a problem. The two people, Charlie Whiting and Max Mosley, who could verify whether what Ecclestone is saying is true or not, aren’t with us anymore.
According to the Last Lap podcast, the host said “The FIA kinda knew what was going on with crashgate before the end of the season. Bernie says a lot of things and that’s the problem. And two of the people who knew the most Mosley and Whiting, they’re both no longer with us so they can’t extrapolate on what actually was known and what wasn’t known”
Felipe Massa has every right to appeal in court as he lost a world championship because of the wrongdoings. The Brazilian recently opened up about how he heard about FIA knowing about the incident before the season ended and what his plan of action is going to be.

Felipe Massa will be challenging the result in court after he got to know about Bernie Ecclestone’s comments. The Brazilian believes that it was shameful of FIA and F1 not to do anything about the incident if they had knowledge of it. They did it just to prevent the image of F1 from tarnishing. The Former Ferrari driver was inconsolable as he learned that he could’ve won the championship if FIA did its job the way it should have.
According to crash.net, Felipe Massa told Corriere Dello Sport “We hear that the [former] owner of the category says that he found out in 2008, together with the president of the FIA, and they did nothing [so as] to not tarnish the name of F1.” “This is very sad, to know the result of this race was supposed to be canceled and I would have a title. In the end, I was the one who lost the most with this result. So, we are going after it to understand all this.”
