Fernando Alonso Divulges on His ‘Love-Hate Relationship’ With England Ahead of British GP

Formula One drivers travel the globe throughout the course of the season, and they’re expected to like some destinations more than the others – it’s human nature. Fernando Alonso is no different, as he talks about what he thinks about England ahead of the British Grand Prix..
The 39-year-old has massive respect for the English; however, one thing he doesn’t like about the country is the weather.
Fernando Alonso hates the rain that England has to offer

In the build-up to the British Grand Prix at Silverstone, the two-time world champion was asked how he felt about visiting England.
He explained, “I have a love-hate relationship with England. I do like the way of English people take life in general – Discipline, loyalty, work ethic. But at the same time, you know I am from Spain, I like the good weather, the sun.”

“And, every time that I go to England, I check the forecast, and I see that there is rain happening or windy or foggy or something. It becomes a little more difficult to spend time there. So hopefully we have a good weekend this time and everyone can enjoy a sunny Silverstone,” Alonso concluded.

Can the Spaniard deliver in England?
The tenth round of the championship takes us to Silverstone for the British Grand Prix. Alonso is hoping to bring home points for the Enstone-based team as he did at the last race in Austria where he came tenth and brought home a single point.
He even added how special F1 is to England, saying “I think Formula One and England is like the same thing. You know and well grew up in a factory based in the UK, with an English environment, mechanics, engineers. So when we get to Silverstone, we know it’s the home Grand Prix for Formula One in general.”
“And it has been like this for many years, the whole time in Formula One. It’s one of the races you want to do well because there are a lot of eyes on Silverstone in the Formula One community, and a lot of the team have their families there, they have a lot of support from everybody.”

“Some of the workers of the factory, If they come to one race in the year. It’s Silverstone because its close to home, so its an important weekend for everyone,” he explained.
The 39-year-old knows the challenge the track possesses; the other obstacle Alonso will have to overcome is the sprint qualifying session. He is hoping to extract the most performance out of his Alpine car bag crucial points for the French team this weekend.
