It’s not easy being a Formula 1 driver, let alone a World Champion. And we’re not talking about how good you need to be as a racing driver. Just the demands of this sport, right up from when you’re starting in karting and even once you make it big. The sad reality of this sport is that it sucks you in, saps you out, and if you’re not ready for it, it’ll brutally spit you out, too. But 2x champion, Fernando Alonso has fought tooth-and-nail against this evil, to ensure a long and illustrious career to boast about. However, the Spaniard has given up on a few dreams along the way, too.

When you think of Alonso, he is a picture of grit and determination. A ruthless nemesis. But off the track, he is as normal as any of us. On the High Performance Podcast, ex-F1 presenter, Jake Humphrey asked the 42-year-old whether he regretted not having any kids or a family of his own due to the hardships of the sport. He replied, “Probably yes, yeah. I love kids and probably not being in the sport and not being a Formula 1 driver. I probably would’ve my own family by now.”
