Now, Alonso has given his view on how the 2021 season concluded. During the launch of the new A522, the Spaniard said, “The new president wanted to make sure everything was right. As I said before, I like Mohammed. I like his approach.”

“If he thought we needed new things, I think he did it for the good of everyone. So I’m glad. I have a different view of Abu Dhabi,” Alonso added.

The Alpine drivers will look to hit the ground running in 2022, with a new era beginning this year. Till now, Alpine have suffered some major reliability issues during pre-season testing in Barcelona, with both drivers struggling to compete with other teams in terms of the most laps completed.

The new F1 season begins in Bahrain at the Sakhir Grand Prix on 18-20 March. Alpine will be bolstered by the new regulations in place.
