Fernando Alonso Thrilled to “Feel the F1 Speed Again” After Renault Test in Bahrain

Fernando Alonso is joining the racing grid in 2021. Alonso took a break from Formula 1 at the end of 2018. He retired from McLaren and announced his comeback after with Renault as Daniel Ricciardo makes a move to McLaren.
During his two years of break, Alonso continued to race around the world. He raced in the 24 hours Le Mans, Indy 500 and also the Dakar Rally. Alonso mentioned that these racing experiences have made him more skilled and matured.
Alonso has been continuously working with the Renault F1 team to prepare the Spaniard for his comeback. He finished an extensive testing program with Renault’s R.S. 18 at the Bahrain and Abu Dhabi circuit.

Fernando Alonso can not wait to come back
Fernando Alonso wants to be familiar with the car and its procedures. As a driver, he always gives his all into the team and their performance. Getting accustomed to the car and full knowledge of the cockpit is very important.

He has significantly involved himself with the improvement of the 2020 car. Renault has been the most improved team this season by far. Meanwhile, he is pushing everyone to get better and pouncing on every opportunity to run laps in the car.

Fernando Alonso is having countless testing runs with Renault’s R.S 18 ahead of his return. He drove the car for two days in Bahrain and repeated it in Abu Dhabi. He said, “It was fantastic to be back in the car and feel the Formula 1 speed again.”

“I enjoy every single lap and I can’t wait next year to be back racing,” he further added. The Spaniard said that he will continue to support Renault for the rest of this season.
Renault is currently standing at P5 with 136 points under their belt. However, They are in a close fight with Racing Point, McLaren and Ferrari. Only 24 points separating the four teams for a third position finish on the standing. Renault will hope that Daniel Ricciardo continues true to his form and scores some big points in the remaining races.
