We won’t blame Mattia Binotto if he’s too happy with his team’s performance. Ferrari has made a solid comeback as they’ve scored podiums in both of the last two races.

While Charles Leclerc won, Bahrain GP, he got unlucky by only half a second for the Saudi GP crown. Moreover, as Mercedes dabble in their problems, the Italian team has just one rival to face.

All hail Ferrari!

Binotto and the Maranello camp have long awaited this moment when they can fight for championships. Despite announcing a premature exit from the 2021 tussle, the team stood third in the Constructors’. This year, Ferrari has the fastest car, most reliable and solid drivers who can lead them to win the title. Many have already hailed fan-favorite Leclerc as the new champion of the season, and mind you, his performances speak for themselves.

Making comparisons to the past, Binotto explained, “It is true that our competitors are very strong in that and proved to be very strong, while as Ferrari the last two opportunities we had [in] 2017 and 2018 we lost a bit of ground through development.”

“Since then as for the car design we have improved our tools, which are wind tunnel, methodologies, process and simulator.”

“I think today we are much better prepared compared to the past to do the proper job as well in development.”

Can Carlos Sainz keep up?

Mattia further went on the express how he feels that Leclerc, who leads the table, is ready for the title. The Ferrari camp puts a lot of trust in the Monegasque and believes he ticks all the boxes to be a world champion. Though Leclerc was behind teammate Carlos Sainz last season, he really made up for it in this year’s season opener.

However, reigning champion Max Verstappen and Carlos Sainz are also favorites to win the 2022 season. While Sainz currently sits second on the table, he will have to push himself more in order to challenge his teammate and Max.

Throughout the race, we were treated to several Leclerc-Verstappen fights, while Sainz was P3 but not on the same level. Can Sainz give the other two a tough fight for P1?
