If recent news is to be believed, Ferrari’s Team Principal Mattia Binotto might not be in the team’s pitwall at the upcoming Turkish Grand Prix. Instead, he will check on the development and preparations for 2021 at the team’s Maranello base.

Laurent Mekies, Ferrari’s Sporting Director, is apparently expected to take the charge in Binotto’s absence during the race weekend in Istanbul. Binotto will then reportedly find his way back for the final triple-header, which will close out the current F1 season.

Ferrari are already focusing on their efforts on the 2021 season

According to GMM News Agency, and as quoted by Tomas Slafer in his report, it stated that “Mattia Binotto will not be present at the Turkish GP to focus on the preparations at the Maranello factory in 2021.

Binotto had previously opened up about the dyno testing that they are undertaking at their factory, and how Ferrari could have a ‘completely new power unit’ for the 2021 season.

More often than not, legendary teams become sleeping giants over the course of years, and F1 fans, in general, will hope that the same is not the case with a team like Ferrari.

They have just not looked the same since early 2019, struggling to get the necessary power to challenge the midfield teams. And as a result of that, the Maranello-based outfit have lacked an overall balance in the handling of the car as well.
