The former Formula 1 driver backed Ferrari in their decision to drop Sebastian Vettel for the next season. “Vettel’s time has passed, so much so that his results this year show that Ferrari may have taken the right option to not renew his contract,” said the Brazilian.

Felipe Massa eventually jumped ship to Formula E and raced in it for the past two years and eventually announced his retirement. Massa is now in Brazil, as he will be competing in the Porsche Endurance Cup this year.

Ferrari is experiencing one of its biggest downfalls in performance this year. This time last year, the team was holding onto P2 on the constructors’ table. Now, the team is struggling to even get into the Top-5 on the table.

Massa expressed his concern in watching Ferrari struggle in Formula 1 this season. “To see such an important team suffering this way is sad. Nobody wants to see Ferrari having these problems,” said Massa.

Charles Leclerc did show some convincing performances at the start of this season. But the inconsistency of the car has not let either of the drivers to fight for a podium. During the Belgian Grand Prix, Ferrari’s race pace was slower than that of its customer teams.
