2022 brings a new era, new designs, and a whole new power structure to the grid. The season opener in Bahrain saw a resurgent Ferrari dominate the field. From taking pole in qualifying to a 1-2 in the race, they made no mistakes. However, it was not only Ferrari that enjoyed a good outing. Other teams powered by Ferrari also had a brilliant start to the season.

Ferrari’s Unmatched Powertrains

This marks Ferrari’s 18th win in the turbo-hybrid era of power units since 2014. In the meantime, amid their amazing showing at the 2022 season so far, there has been a lot of conversation about Ferrari’s engines this season. The Bahrain GP solidified its status as the quickest car on the grid. But that is not all. However, reports from Corriere Dello Sport said, In the first GP, the technicians from Maranello used the engine below its potential.”

Mattia Binotto bragged at the start of the season that they had gained 25+ horsepower over the competition. With there being talks of a power unit freeze till 2025, this will massively benefit the Maranello outfit and teams using their engines. However, this also waves the red flags for rivals Mercedes and Red Bull, whose package this season is not as impressive.

How the other Ferrari powered teams are doing?

There is mutual consensus at this point that Ferrari has the best engine on the grid this year. This sees Ferrari-powered teams start the midfield battle off strong. Haas and Alfa Romeo both perform well with P5 and P6 finishes, respectively.

While Kevin Magnussen of Haas was constantly within sights of the Mercedes cars showed that Haas has a great pace this season. They could perhaps go on and replicate their 5th place finish in the constructors from 2018 or even top it.

Alfa Romeo also saw both Valtteri Bottas and rookie Guanyu Zhou finish in the points. They too look like worthy midfield contenders capable of fighting for regular double points finishes.
