Charles Leclerc finally ended his five-race podium-less run with the highest place on it. Leclerc drove brilliantly and overtook Max Verstappen multiple times to eventually take the victory at the Austrian GP. The Monegasque ended his run of unfortunate events, however; it could’ve been completely opposite towards the end.

Creating problems yet again, the Ferrari F1-75 almost cost another win for Leclerc. However, Leclerc’s brilliance in the last 10 laps was the difference maker and earned him the victory. The victory was never in doubt until the safety car incident post-which Leclerc’s pedal became an issue. Leclerc’s teammate Carlos Sainz’s F1-75 caused the safety car, once again highlighting Ferrari’s unreliability.

The pedal issue made Leclerc a nervous wreck and his anxiety-filled team radio conversations are proof. However, the Ferrari pilot kept his cool and brought home the victory despite the threat from Max Verstappen. The incidents leading up to the victory could’ve been more pleasant, and even Ferrari boss Mattia Binotto shares the sentiment.

It was a bittersweet race for the Scuderia as Leclerc won, but the obvious engine troubles still pertain. With Perez’s early retirement, a Ferrari 1-2 was a real possibility. However, the Ferrari engines are working in favor of Red Bull and keeping the championship interesting.

Charles Leclerc and Ferrari team radio conversations are stressful

Even though the Monegasque emerged victories, the team radio exchanges in the last 10 laps were quite stressful for the Tifosi. Every time the Ferrari man got on his radio, there was a hint of doubt coupled with fear. And the fans shared the emotion as well.

The fan reaction sums up how close it all was toward the end for Leclerc and Ferrari. Had the pedal issue become worse over time, this would’ve been the sixth race in a row for Leclerc without a win.
