Ferrari are finally seeing some light at the end of the tunnel after what has been a rather disappointing outing for the team. Mattia Binotto opened up about how the Maranello-based outfit have struck a balance between their factory work and their on-track performance. Naturally, Binotto hinted at good times ahead.
Binotto mentioned that Ferrari were not expecting a lot from the upgrades they made over the last couple of races. “I think we were not expecting a lot of difference,” Mattia said.
“It was a small upgrade, and it was completing a package we started introducing in Russia. The positive is that it was correlating well with what we saw in the wind tunnel and back in the factory.

“And that somehow means we are moving the car in the right direction.”
Charles Leclerc demonstrated the progress they have made as far as pace is concerned by clinching a P4 during Qualifying. Although he failed to finish the race in the same position, this is still a decent step forward for the Prancing Stallion.
Maintaining the course of progress at Ferrari, a priority for Binotto
Binotto, after looking at their current momentum, assured that Ferrari will have further upgrades over the rest of this season. “There will be some more upgrades during the remainder of this season, which will be as well important,” he said.
“And for us, what’s key is the team developing the car, and more important, making sure the direction we are taking the car is the right one.”

Even Leclerc sounded convinced with how his car felt at Nurburgring. “Looking back at the weekend, I think there are a lot of positives,” he said.

“I did not expect to be so competitive, with the cold weather like that, and the car was handling quite well. So that was a positive.
“I think the smallest updates that we brought this weekend worked also in the right direction. It wasn’t a massive setup, but that was not what we were searching for,” Leclerc said.

“It was a small step going in the right direction. And this is also positive.” Perhaps this is where the scarlet outfit’s meteoric rise begins.
With a series of upgrades lined up to build on what they have already achieved, the only question is: Can they take their fight to the trio of Racing Point, Renault, and McLaren?
