When Sebastian Vettel came to Ferrari in 2015, he walked in with a lot of fanfare and expectations. While there were some awe-inspiring moments, he ultimately failed in his quest at delivering the Championship. However, this has not diminished his respect among the workforce at Ferrari. The German threw his team a farewell party after the season-finale too.
Sebastian Vettel was an honest man at Ferrari
Laurent Mekies, who deputized for Mattia Binotto at Abu Dhabi GP, was effusive in his praise for the German.

“When it is difficult, it was always incredible to go and speak with Seb because you will get an honest view of things.
“It doesn’t mean you will agree all the time, you will get what he really thinks and he would always be able to get his point of view across by involving the people, getting them on board and that was priceless.”
The four-time World Champion has been struggling for the last couple of seasons. But, according to Mekies, he still has not downed his tools at Ferrari.
“It is easy to do that when everything goes good, but from a human perspective, it is a completely different thing to do that when things are difficult and that’s where he was certainly outstanding.”

The German can definitely uplift the rebranded-Aston Martin Team next season. His experience, not just as a four-time World Champion, but also in the development of a car, is priceless. He can carry the team to the front of the grid with his speed and also improve the organization as a whole.
However, it is important to note that he thrives better when he is the central figure of the team. Once Charles Leclerc joined Ferrari, that was no longer the case. As a result, his performance suffered. Even though Lance Stroll is nowhere near Leclerc’s class, his father practically owns the team.

So, any politics may prove to be a stumbling block for him to achieve Championship success. If Vettel can somehow overcome or prevent that, he can take a fifth Driver’s Title home. Tough times don’t last, but tough blokes do.
