A month into the new year and we have already had three major incidents in the world of F1. However, the latest one is the most shocking of them all. As the Seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton is set to leave Mercedes after a decade and join Ferrari for the 2025 season, that brings us to the question, what about Carlos Sainz? The Spaniard has been a rock for Ferrari since his move to the Italian team. His first two career wins came wearing the red overalls.
However, with his contract expiring at the end of the 2024 season, his future with the Scuderia was always a doubt. Now that the doubt is almost cleared we know Sainz won’t be driving for Ferrari in 2025 (pending confirmation). According to F1 expert Lawrence Barretto Red Bull is a possible landing spot for the Spaniard.
Sergio Perez put his Red Bull future in jeopardy all by himself, with his abysmal form in 2023. However, looking ahead, Red Bull boss Christian Horner revealed it’s Perez’s seat to lose and all will depend on the Mexican’s performance in 2024. Horner had said that in terms of them needing to be in a rush, they have options that are in the wings, and they “have a lot of interest from outside of the team as well.”

If Perez fails to impress, Red Bull might want to pair Max Verstappen with his old teammate Carlos Sainz. The Spaniard has already been a part of the Red Bull family and given the circumstances, he will gladly accept a drive for 2025 with the Austrian team.

Red Bull is surely a viable option but we never know with most of the grid running out of contract at the end of 2024. However, securing a longer-term contract at Red Bull might prove to be difficult, which is why we believe Sauber, who will eventually become Audi, will also be on the list of potential destinations for Sainz.
Thanks to Lewis Hamilton’s surprise move, Carlos Sainz might have to make the Audi rumors come true
Carlos Sainz to Audi has been in the rumor mill for ages. However, there was never concrete evidence to substantiate the claim and link the Spaniard to a team that will make its first appearance in 2026. However, now the clogs are turning and Sainz will look to secure his long-term future in the sport as he slowly edges to his racing peak.

This is precisely why we believe Sainz might give Audi a genuine thought now, much to his father’s delight. Moreover, Sainz’s former boss, Andreas Seidl, is heading the Audi project and is an admirer of the Spaniard.

All signs, including a report, point toward Sainz heading to Audi now that the Ferrari door is shut. The report read, “The priority is to renew for a long time with Ferrari. But there is a Plan A and a Plan B. Sainz is in the sights of other teams such as Audi which will enter F1 starting from 2026. But it is not just Audi that is interested in Sainz.”

With Plan A reportedly out of the window, so we suppose Plan B takes priority now, and that is securing a seat with either Red Bull or Audi. However, if Sainz can wait till the end of the season, he might be able to secure the most desirable seat in the sport. A lot of exciting new updates on the horizon.
