Lewis Hamilton is an unhappy man right now. He has been bashing his team left, right, and center for not listening to him and, more importantly, botching things up even further. But does that mean he is done with them? Well, only time will tell. However, as Ferrari gears up to make a $49,000,000 offer the Mercedes man cannot refuse, a dirty laundry from the coffers stands exposed.

Lewis Hamilton and his retired mate Sebastian Vettel fought hard for the championship in 2017 and 2018. And both times, the former won it while Vettel graciously accepted defeat. The Italian GP in Monza in 2018 saw a first-lap incident between the home hero Vettel and Lewis, which invited a lot of booing and uproar from the crowd. In short, the Tifosi tried everything they could to dismiss Hamilton. And now the past stands to stare the Briton in his eyes as he is being touted to jump ships.

And that something is their own fan base. Lewis Hamilton was booed when he went on the stage to step on the top step of the podium in 2018. The question remains, that the Tifosi who were discarding the Briton’s existence 5 years ago, can they suddenly accept them as their own?

Reportedly, on rumors of Hamilton going to Ferrari, it was quoted that the 7x champion may lose his star life at Maranello. The above tweet further translates to, “There, he would lose his star life and support for minorities. Toto is a boss who basically lets Lewis do whatever he wants. Like it or not, the projects that make Lewis transcend F1 have the finger of Mercedes. Mercedes is Lewis. Lewis is Mercedes.” While it is a possibility that Ferrari can make Lewis an 8x champ, there is a dirty past attached. That is the treatment the Italians gave him in 2017 and 2018 because he won.

Moreover, Hamilton is not the only driver who has snubbed the Ferrari hero to claim victory, hence not the only recipient of hate.

In 2018, Vettel took a win at Silverstone and the Brit did it at Monza. But the Tifosi absolutely rejected the Briton’s win, booing him the loudest. However, in 2022, it appeared that the Tifosi couldn’t accept anyone else winning, as Hamilton’s rival Max Verstappen was given the same treatment.

Last year Verstappen fifth straight win of the season came at Monza. A circuit that has been shy from Red Bull. He said it took some time, but the Milton Keynes bagged the top step. However, as usual, the Tifosi weren’t ready to accept the man who their home hero Charles Leclerc was competing with and they booed him throughout.
