Charles Leclerc is one of the calmest characters on the Formula 1 grid. Even during high-pressure situations in the past, he has stayed composed. But the consistent botching that has become a signature Ferrari move during races has led him to lose his cool more than a few times this year. But instead of destroying the root cause, Team Principal Frederic Vasseur has bashed Leclerc.

In the recent past, the Maranello outfit has been known for digging more holes for themselves than performing well. Unfortunately for Leclerc, it is always he who has to face the music. So, it is natural for him to get impatient and fiery on the team radio. But Vasseur wants none of it. He wants the Monegasque to stay calm despite the consistently messy external circumstances.

“You can always do better, as a team and also as riders,” Vasseur told Gazzetta. “Charles didn’t expect a season like this. Leclerc is an impetuous character who doesn’t hold back when something doesn’t go as planned. However, for his own good and that of the team, sometimes it’s better to calm down before speaking. When it’s hot, you don’t have all the information you need to form a definitive judgment and in front of an open microphone it’s better to take your time.”[Translated Via Google]

In the past couple of weeks, instead of owning up to his mistakes, Vasseur has shifted the blame onto others. This won’t work for him in the long run. But speaking of the long run, the Frenchman has also not only given updates on the development of the SF-23 this season but also their 2024 ploy.

Tifosi is expecting Ferrari to put up a stronger showing post the summer break. Those expectations seem valid considering that the drivers and the entire team will be re-energized. But their biggest problem has been their car and according to Vasseur, the wind tunnel testing has been stopped and only a few minor upgrades are lined up.

Vasseur told Gazzetta, “For this season we stopped the developments in the wind tunnel at the end of July, but we have pieces already deliberated and in progress that we will take all the way to Qatar or Austin. For the car for 2024, we are still at philosophical concepts.”
