It might baffle some, especially now, but the Ferrari name holds such high standards in Formula 1, that they receive a royalty for it. The Scuderia receives an additional 2.5% from the final prize pot. Bearing that in mind, the Maranello outfit’s current state is far from Ferrari’s high standards. Charles Leclerc embodied the current scenario while speaking about his ambitions with the team recently after his failure in Monza. However, while speaking about the home race, he also ridiculed his teammate for his subpar expectations.

Albeit realistic, Carlos Sainz recently admitted the team is currently fighting for 5th, or 6th position. Given the level of competition on the grid currently, he is right. However, despite his failure to snatch the podium from his teammate, reiterating his desire to fight, Leclerc expressed his disagreement as seen on X.

“My goal is to fight for wins not fighting 5th, 6th place. For sure Sainz made a great job in Monza he’s in great form and he has a great feeling with the car,” said Leclerc.

Leclerc joined Ferrari in 2019 in his second year in the circus and has completely embodied the spirit. The Monegasque has become a favorite of the Tifosi and puts on the red suit with utmost pride.

This is perhaps why Leclerc gets the preference as well in the Ferrari camp. You don’t agree? Well, according to Carlos Sainz Sr., that is exactly the case as the events of Monza baffled him.

Despite the casual outlook of Charles Leclerc about the fight in Monza, Carlos Sainz’s father still perplexed by Ferrari’s indecisiveness

Leclerc went on record to call his nerve-wracking battle for P3 in Monza a “fun fight”. However, this opinion is perhaps limited only to Leclerc. As for the rest of the Ferrari faithful, it was anything but.

The two red cars were in close proximity on multiple occasions and one misstep could’ve taken them both out of the race, undoing all the hard work. This is exactly why Sainz Sr. was perplexed by Ferrari pitwall’s decision to not intervene when they have done so on multiple occasions in the past, especially when it was his son doing the chasing.

“It’s curious. Sometimes they [Ferrari] decide some things, sometimes others. It is he who has to ask and understand the strategies, why sometimes they can attack each other and other times not. I am left with the result and third place. Now that it has happened, I prefer it to be like this, without any type of order or anything. Deserved. Congratulations,” said Sainz Sr.
