The 2023 season has been a bit of a mixed bag for Ferrari. While they’ve shown sparks of brilliance at times, the majority of their season has been littered with problems of every kind. But out of the two drivers, one of them has been having a ball as compared to the other. Charles Leclerc may have been enduring the worst run of his entire Formula 1 career, whilst his teammate, Carlos Sainz has been relatively flourishing.

As things stand, after the horrible Dutch GP, from Leclerc’s perspective, his teammate Carlos Sainz leads the Monegasque in the championship standings. While they are only separated by a slim margin of 3 points, Sainz has been seemingly reveling in the fruits of his success.

Carlos Sainz rejoices in Charles Leclerc’s misery

On paper, Sainz has had a better season than his Monacan teammate. Hence, it is only natural that with his fair share of bad luck, the Spanish racing ace has also had his pick of good races. But for him, a race where Leclerc shunted his car in Quali and retired from the Grand Prix is the top pick of his choice.

Sainz beamed as The Race quoted him as saying, “Especially this season. It’s among the best for sure. Top three for sure, because [of] how tricky it was out there. It has to be one of my best drives of the season.”

Sainz didn’t stop there either.

Sainz gives himself a sly compliment while dissing Ferrari

F1 drivers are known to be egotistical and narcissistic. But credit where credit is due. Even on a day when the Scuderia seemed lacking in the pace department, Sainz toiled to get himself into a decent points finishing position. We’re not saying this by the way, it’s actually Sainz himself!

Formula1.com quoted him as saying, “I think [this also] has to be frustrating for us because in a way this weekend, we were just very far off the pace and we need to understand why. But at the same time we have to be proud that on a weekend when the pace wasn’t there, we’ve managed to maximise our result. Mixed feelings for sure but I did suffer quite a bit out there today.”
