Does Charles Leclerc have what it takes to become World Champion? Tifosi definitely wants him up there. However, whether Max Verstappen and Charles Leclerc possess the same skills or not is still up for dispute. Verstappen has been the undisputed monarch of Formula 1 for the past 15 months, while Charles Leclerc has only experienced the cruel hand of fate while driving the red car. However, the controversy has finally been explained to the fans by an F1 journalist. What did the journalist say?

Max Verstappen and Charles Leclerc both began competing in motorsports at a young age, showcasing their talent in the driver’s seat. Verstappen has been far ahead of Leclerc in the current standings, with the Dutchman presently holding 42 victories to just 5 for the Monegasque. All of this left fans wondering why the Monegasque had to endure so much pain despite sharing the same potential as Max Verstappen.

When both drivers had well-equipped cars last year, they both flashed their real selves, competing for the championship. However, in the latter part of last year, Verstappen acquired a huge lead, which he has kept rather dominantly to this year by winning 7 out of 9 races. When it comes to Leclerc’s performance this year, it has been full of disappointments and misfortunes. Although we have seen him perform flawlessly in qualifying and demonstrate his talent, Ferrari didn’t support the Monegasque. The reliability issues and tire wear have kept him outside of the top three.

The entire situation has now been clarified by the Formula 1 journalist, revealing how Ferrari’s difficulties have kept Charles Leclerc at bay with the championship. While responding to a question about why Leclerc is struggling while Verstappen is enjoying glory, on his YouTube channel, Peter Windsor said, “I think that’s absolutely right I think he does have Max’s Royal Talent. Because of the situation he’s been in him and his career is not on track Max is Max’s career is on track. Max knows what he’s doing every day and how good his car is going to be and what. he has to think of next to get the best from it and from him whereas as I’ve said before you know Charles has to think of a million things or does think of a million things apart from his driving which is you know.”

While adding further giving some psychological explanation, Windsor added, “What’s happening at Ferrari do I want to be there can I go somewhere else is the car going to be good at Silverstone. Bearing in mind it went pretty well in Austria why was I not very good in the semi-wet for the last three occasions why is Carlos Sainz looking a bit better in a couple of areas all these things are there and that’s why he’s not looking quite as sharp as Max.”

Even though the Dutchman had a comfortable win at the Austrian GP, he claims that a shortcoming of Ferrari has provided him an advantage over Charles Leclerc.

At the Austrian Grand Prix, Verstappen won his 42nd race, but despite it being another dominant victory, the Dutchman didn’t feel it was a sweet victory owing to an unfair edge he had over the Prancing Horse. Leclerc only held the lead for a brief period at Spielberg when Verstappen pitted on the second to last lap. However, so far this season, the Ferraris have been severely affected by tire wear.

Verstappen even took the chance of pitting in the second to last lap to take advantage of it, and in the end, the SF-23 was unable to maintain its pace and Verstappen ultimately won by a two-second margin. Verstappen considers this to be a significant advantage. The Dutchman stated following the event in an interview with Skysportsf1, “It was good. But also, a bit unfair, the tire advantage I had and also the general pace advantage.”
