Ahead of Friday’s practice session at Mugello, Ferrari has unveiled an image of the SF1000’s livery – and it is quite simply, majestic and beautiful. The longest-serving team in the sport will take to the field, in what would be their 1000 race over the course of their 70 years history. The color of the car traces it back to the first car they built, the Ferrari 125 S.

Vettel would be looking to give a much stronger showing this time around for their tifosi. Having faced a brake failure issue which saw him finish with a DNF at Monza, the German driver currently sits on 13th position in the standings. But his first task in the Tuscan GP realistically, is to make it to Q3 and starting in the top half of the grid rather than the bottom.

Charles Leclerc was also appreciative of the livery for the special occasion. He was quoted as saying, “I can’t wait to be on track at Mugello with Ferrari. The circuit is really beautiful and on top of that, we are celebrating our team’s 1000th GP in Formula 1. I’m also pleased to learn there will be a few thousand fans in the grandstands. The track has a very long straight, but it’s not super fast like the past two we raced on. So it should be a bit better suited to our car.”

Ferrari fans would be pleased to hear the comments, particularly the latter, from the young Monegasque sensation. Leclerc himself was involved in a bad crash that led to a horrible weekend for the Italian giants. But he has so far been the better of the two drivers for the team. Regardless, Ferrari will want to please their fans on this historic and special occasion. And a stylish throwback with the livery, is certainly a first of many steps taken to a good weekend.
