In 2023, Hamilton enters the last year with Mercedes, as stipulated by his previous contract. The world now awaits the renewal as much as they await the inception of the new season after the winter break. According to Toto Wolff, the 7x champion is making the Silver Arrows work hard to extend the association.

The Mercedes Team is more than confident that they will retain the most decorated man of Formula 1 for a few more seasons. Hamilton has echoed the emotions of the team, stating he doesn’t see himself anywhere else. Yet the final deal doesn’t appear close to done. The boss speaking to the media gave an insight into the ongoing negotiation between the team and Briton. He even went ahead to state his intentions of providing the champion with a race-winning car that will make him the most successful driver in history.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Wolff said, “Our talks have always been going OK. I think we’ve done it three times now. We are changing a sentence, or a word, or a number here and there. He wouldn’t want a zero less!”

He further added the reason why Hamilton intends to stay in the sport: “It’s more about doing what he loves, what he does best. If we provide him with a good car, there is nothing between him and an eighth title.”
